Winter Wonderland of Switzerland
Want to experience winterland of Switzerland in the middle of Summer?
Well! Up at this place, it’s always winter?
Any Guess?
A scenic drive through Switzerland’s Bernese oberland takes you to this place?
Still guessing?
It’s none other than Top of Europe, Jungfraujoch.
Wonder why the name is Top of Europe!
Because it has got the high-altitude building located at a height of around 3500 meters above sea level.
Jungfrau Railway
One daring idea which rose in an industrial magnate while on his hike to Jungfrau summit, gave us this Europe’s Highest-Altitude railway.
The idea is to blast a tunnel through Eiger and Monch to construct a cogwheel railway to the summit.
Sheer construction of this tunnel through two great mountains was possible only through the undaunted effort of the people who had put their utmost dedication to finally achieve this masterpiece.
Ready? Buckle up. Come on. Let’s go to top of Europe! There are two directions you can take to reach Jungfraujoch from Interlaken. One via Lauterbrunnen and another one via Grindelwald.
Let me tell you both the routes give you unmatched views on your journey. Try taking both the options for your to and fro journey.
We took the Option 1 for travelling to Jungfraujoch and took the Option 2 for our return journey.
Please note that your Swiss Travel pass will be free for your journey upto Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald.
Ice Palace
After having fun time in the snow, our next stop was Ice palace.
Before heading to Ice palace, we were well aware of Switzerland people’s interest in art. But what we didn’t know was that they can create an interesting art even in ice.
Alphine sensation Round-Tour
This subway takes you on a time travel to the early days of Jungfrau tourism to the history of Jungfrau railway and hardships faced by the tunnel workers involved.
Sphinx Observatory
Switzerland’s fastest lift takes you to one of the highest observatories in the world at 3571 meters above sea level, Sphinx Observatory.
The best part about Sphinx Observatory terrace is that it offers unparallaled view of Aletsch Glacier.
Here’s presenting to you, the view of Aletsch Glacier from the terrace of observatory.
Look how the dreamy the view is!
From the top of Europe, you can apparently see four countries.(Phew! Though it all looked like mountains to us).
We were feeling lucky to have the mercy of Sun bestowed on us for all the celestial views!
Glacier Plateau
Our final stop was Glacier plateau, where I finally got the fluffy fluffy snow to play with.
