Breakfast scenes in Bhuj be like
We struggled to find a restaurant for eating breakfast in Bhuj. When we finally found a small restaurant, we were surprised to see eight pooris in the size of paani poori getting served along with chaai. We were like ” Are you serious?”. We were thankful that the hotel had side-dish at least. We ordered nearly 20 plates to satiate six hungry tummies. Next day we bought noodles packet for making our breakfast in the stay itself. Lesson learnt hard.

As breakfast scenes didn’t turn out well, we went to have thali from Umiyaji Dining hall. We were surprised to see so many different foods getting served in the Thali. 500 Rupees Fine for wasting food
You can find boards with fine for wasting food in many hotels in Gujarat. They encourage diners to eat mindfully and finish the food on their plates without wasting it. From serving pickles and other dishes in table for self serving to imposing INR 500 fine for wasting food, hotel’s initiative to discourage food wastage is really appreciable.

Good luck finding hotels that serve Non veg
After four days of exploring Gujarat, we wanted to have egg for lunch. When we got to a motel in the highway, we enquired whether the hotel served egg. (“Anda hai kya?”). But the reply we got was “Andaaa? Swamy Narayana!” with a clear shake of head from side to side. After that, we never enquired any hotel whether they serve egg. On the last day of travelling Kutch, we satiated our tummy by eating non-veg biryani from Hotel Noorani Mahal.

Paan menace in White Rann of Kutch
When I started walking in white desert, I was literally shocked to see Paan spitting everywhere. I don’t understand how our people spit paan in such a beautiful white desert. We had to walk deep into the white desert to finally witness the pure white desert. If such a beautiful place existed elsewhere, people would have taken all measures to protect it. But here we are! A natural wonder ruined by people and their habits.

Trees bear Kite flowers
Ahmedabad is a place where trees bear kites instead of flowers. As we went exactly after Makkara Sankranti, we saw many trees with more than 10 kites in their branches. We always try to engage our kid during car travel as he gets vomiting sensation. In Ahmedabad, we engaged him by asking to find a specific color kites in trees and to count the kites we see along the road.

Kite String guards
When we first reached Ahmedabad, we were surprised to see steel wire loops attached to handlebars of bike. Later we got to know from our cousin that the steel wire loops act as a barrier from kites which can cause cuts to the face, neck etc. Government and police have implemented measures like this in order to curtail the danger caused by Kite strings.
